8/17/20

Players, Parents, and Coaches:

I am writing you today to inform you of the current guidelines and restrictions placed on us due to Covid-19.  I wanted to give everyone an idea of what this season is going to consist of, but please keep in mind that this is a very fluid situation and things may change, for the better or worse, depending on the infection rate in our area at any given moment. Please rest assured that the safety of our players and their families are at the forefront of our minds. We also understand that your/your child’s participation in the season is a personal decision and everyone must decide what is best for their specific situation.

Below is information that you need to know in order to make an informed decision as to whether to participate in the 2020-2021 season

  1. Under the current NYS guidelines for sports and recreation ice hockey is considered a high-risk sport.
  2. Currently guidelines do not allow for competitive scrimmages, games, and out of state travel or tournaments. This could change in future, but we must go by the current guidelines.
  3. Ice this year will be at Cornerstone Arena in Lockport.
  4. The guidelines state only players/coaches can enter the rink. We are in communication with Cornerstone to possibly have some assistance allowed for players that need help to get in their sled and on and off the ice, this is still in the works and not confirmed.
  5. Ice will be limited to 25 people.
  6. Everyone will be allowed to enter the rink 15 minutes before our ice time via the lower level entrance.
  7. Everyone must be dressed when entering the facility. You can bring a small bag in of equipment in for gloves, neck guard and helmet etc. The rink will have socially distant chairs set up in arena to finish getting equipment on.
  8.  Everyone must wear a mask when walking or rolling in the facility, but masks can be removed when on the ice.
  9.  The registration fee has been lowered to $50 per player for 2020-21 season due to the restrictions outlined above.
  10. This season we are planning to have ice once a week. Depending on how many players sign up, teams will be split up into two groups with practice every other week. For example, Group A will be September 19th, Group B September 26th, Group A October 3rd, Group B October 10th and so forth. Practices will consist of socially distant drills and activities.  (Please see attached examples)

In order to determine if we can move forward with this season we need to know if you/your player will be participating this year. Please review all the documents attached so you are aware of all the NYS guidelines and the guidelines/restrictions Cornerstone has. After doing so, please complete the 2020-2021 commitment survey, by clicking the link below.  If we do not have enough players, we may have to cancel the season because it may become financially unfeasible, to go forward with the season.

Thank you in advance for completing the survey.
